Delegacja ze Stanów Zjednoczonych w Zespole Szkół Licealnych im. Bolesława Chrobrego w Leżajsku

W piątek 6 kwietnia Zespół Szkół Licealnych w Leżajsku odwiedzili amerykańscy biznesmeni i doradcy Kongresu Stanów Zjednoczonych na czele z Panią Sarah Chamberlain – prezesem i dyrektorem generalnym Main Street Republican Partnership, jedną z najbardziej wpływowych kobiet w Waszyngtonie i prezes Fundacji Kobiety Kobietom. 10-osobową delegację z Waszyngtonu zaprosił do liceum Pan Ireneusz Lubaczewski, absolwent Zespołu Szkół Licealnych, który po zdaniu matury wyjechał na stałe do Stanów Zjednoczonych. Obecnie jest on Prezesem Finansowym I Wydziału Kongresu Stanów Zjednoczonych w Pensylwanii, oraz Dyrektorem Wykonawczym i Przewodniczącym Rady Doradców Polsko-Amerykańskiej Izby Handlowej w Waszyngtonie. Delegacji amerykańskiej towarzyszyli goście z Polski: wicemarszałek senatu Pan Adam Bielan, podkarpaccy parlamentarzyści oraz przedstawiciele Polskiej Agencji Inwestycji i Handlu.

Spotkanie rozpoczęło się odśpiewaniem hymnów obu krajów i przedstawieniem wszystkich zaproszonych gości, po czym wójt gminy Leżajsk Pan Krzysztof Sobejko, powitał wszystkich zgromadzonych i krótko przedstawił gminę, jednocześnie zapraszając do następnego punktu spotkania jakim była wizyta w Gminnym Ośrodku Kultury w Giedlarowej. Następnie Dyrektor Zespołu Szkół Licealnych Pan Zbigniew Trębacz, po powitaniu całej delegacji, przedstawił postać Pana Ireneusza Lubaczewskiego i oddał mu głos. Pan Lubaczewski przekonywał uczniów, że warto ciężko pracować, aby odnieść w życiu sukces, a byłym nauczycielom podziękował za przekazaną mu wiedzę. Głos zabrał również Pan Adam Bielan, który wyraził nadzieję na głębszą współpracę między Polską a Stanami Zjednoczonymi w kontekście utworzonej właśnie Polsko – Amerykańskiej Izby Handlowej. Ostatnim rozmówcą była Pani Sarah Chamberlain, która zachwalała polską gościnność i również zachęcała młodzież od osiągania swoich zamierzeń i celów. Pani Chamberlain odpowiadała na pytania uczniów i chętnie pozowała z nimi do zdjęć.

Całe spotkanie przebiegało w miłej i przyjaznej atmosferze, a dla uczniów było nie tylko dużym przeżyciem, ale również dowodem na to, że ciężka praca może zakończyć się sukcesem.

Następnym punktem wizyty było spotkanie w Gminnym Ośrodku Kultury w Giedlarowej, przygotowane przez wójta gminy Leżajsk Pana Krzysztofa Sobejko. Podczas tego spotkania nasi goście mogli skosztować specjałów lokalnej kuchni i posłuchać regionalnej muzyki ludowej.

Cała wizyta zakończyła się Mszą Świętą w kościele farnym w Leżajsku zorganizowaną przez księdza proboszcza Marka Ciska i odprawianą przez arcybiskupa diecezji Przemyskiej księdza Józefa Michalika.

USA business delegation pays a visit to Boleslaw Chrobry High School in Leżajsk

On Friday 6th April our school was visited by a delegation of American businessmen and advisors of the US Congress headed by Lady Sarah Chamberlain – the President and chief operations officer of Main Street Republican Partnership, Founder of the Women2Women Conversations Tour and one of the most powerful women in Washington. The delegation was invited to our school by Mr Ireneusz Lubaczewski, a graduate of the school who, after graduating, emigrated to the USA. Now he is the Financial President of the First Congress Department of the USA in Pennsylvania and an executive director and chairman of the Advisory Board of Polish American Chamber of Commerce in Washington. The American delegation was accompanied by Polish guests: Mr Adam Bielan – the deputy speaker of the Senat, memebers of parliament form Podkarpacie province and the representatives of various Polish business organizations.

The meeting started with national anthems of both countries and introducing all the guests, after which the president of the board of supervisors of the county of Leżajsk Mr Krzysztof Sobejko welcomed all the guests and gave a few facts about the county and the same time inviting everyone to the next point of the visit – the County Culture Center in Giedlarowa. Next, the headmaster of the school Mr Zbigniew Trębacz introduced the figure of Mr Ireneusz Lubaczewski and invited him to the rostrum. In his moving speech, Mr Lubaczewski recalled the years he spent in the town and at school and encouraged the students gathered there to work hard to fulfill their dreams and ambitions. He also thanked his teachers for the knowledge they conveyed to him. The next speaker was Mr Adam Bielan who expressed his hope for a deeper cooperation between Poland and Amarica in connection with the Polish-Amercan Chamber of Commerce opened last week. The last speaker was Ms Sarah Chamberlain who praised Polish hospitality and also encouraged the students of the school to believe in themselves and to try to do everything to achieve their goals in life. Ms Chamberlain also answered the students’ questions and posed for photos with them.

The whole meeting ran in a nice and friendly atmosphere, and for the students it was not only a great experience but also a proof that with hard work everyone can succeed in life.

The next point of the meeting was a visit to the County Culture Center in Giedlarowa, prepared by the president of the board of supervisors of the county of Leżajsk Mr Krzysztof Sobejko. During this unusual meeting our guests could try the local food and listen to Polish regional folk music.

The whole visit ended with Holy Mass in the parish church in Leżajsk organised by the rector of the church priest Marek Cisek and celebrated by the Archbishop of Przemyśl Archdiosese priest Józef Michalik.

We would like to express our gratitude to Lady Sarah Chamberlain for accepting the invitation to visit our school and all the unforgettable memories she left us with. Not only do we feel thankful for her speech during which she assured us that coming from a small town does not have to be an obstacle on the way to success, but also for answering the students’ questions and patiently posing for photos with all of us.

In addition, we would like to thank the whole US business delegation for having decided to honour us with their presence.

Our special thanks go to Mr Ireneusz Lubaczewski without whom this wonderful event would have never taken place. Being busy with a great number of meetings with politicians and business people, he still found time to pay a visit to his hometown and the school he used to attend. He took a great effort in all the preparations and organization of the whole visit to Leżajsk, which is really appreciated. Mr Lubaczewski’s warm attitude towards everyone he met here, made a great impression on all of us. We take pride in being given the opportunity to cooperate with such an amazing person and we do hope that there are many more projects to take place in the future.
